The Green Lady

by Smoke Monkey on July 4, 2017

In about 1997 I stopped at a thrift shop in Longview, WA and for about $4 bought this curious print of a green-faced Chinese lady.  On the back a previous owner had documented some $250 in insurance coverage bought in the 70’s.  She’s been hanging on my walls ever since. For years puzzling viewers about the story behind the painting. Why so sad? Why green?

Thanks to the Intarwubs’ ability to answer questions, now we know:

Tretchikoff’s “Chinese Lady” Monika Pon-Su-San has passed
